VAISEY, William Murray ‘Bill’ –  Born May 31, 1923, music educator William “Bill” Vaisey has played his last étude. He died on October 5, 2015 in Peterborough, Ontario after brief hospitalization.

Predeceased by his parents, Albert George and Alice Jane, by his brothers, Stuart and Douglas and by his niece, Robin. He is survived by his sister, Eleanor of Edmonton, Alberta and by nieces, nephews and their families across Canada.

Thanks to the staff and physicians of Empress Gardens and the Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their excellent care, in sickness and in health.

Born and educated in Toronto, Bill served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and post war studied music in England and Italy. He became a Teacher who made a significant contribution to music education for the blind and visually challenged as the National Music Consultant for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (1967 – 1988). He taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto for 60 years, adjudicated practical exams and served as President of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association (1976 – 1978). He was a faithful member of Timothy Eaton Memorial United Church.

His work touched the lives of many to the good. At this time, remember the infectious quality of his laugh, the warming character of his smile and the lightness of his wit. William Vaisey relished life’s many dimensions and shared them with family and friends alike. We know he is at peace, but we will miss him profoundly nonetheless.

Following his personal directive, cremation has occurred with private interment to follow. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, CNIB, or a charity of your preference.

A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, October 22nd at 4:30 p.m. in The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto, 14 Elm Street, Toronto, Ontario.
