WILLIAMS, Warren “Bee-Bop” Williams

An Ogichidaa (oh-gi-chi-DAA)—warrior, father, brother, and uncle—passed on February 4, 2026, surrounded by family. He was deeply loved and cared for in his final moments. Known for his sharp wit, contagious smile, and thunderous laughter, Bee-Bop began his journey into the spirit world accompanied by his children, former wives, Barb and Nancy, and close family from Aamjiwnaang, Bkejwanong (Walpole Island), and Wiikwedong (Kettle Point). He died knowing he was not alone. He is survived by his brothers, Nicholas “Guy-Guy” Williams and Robbie Williams, and his sisters, Maria Cottrelle and Lisa Bressette. He is also survived by his sons, Nico “O’dehmin-Misquyojibik” Williams, Cody Williams and his only baby girl, Shy-Shy who honored him with traditional cedar baths at the time of his passing at 6:35 p.m. at Bluewater Health. Affectionately known as “Bee-Bop,” he was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephews—Necon Cottrelle, Nickoma Cottrelle, Nene-Sah Aauash, Breeze Bressette, Sara Williams, Nolan Ireland and Nodin Ireland and Gracie- Ruth Bessette and baby Wesley—and a cherished presence in the lives of many. His life was defined not by public recognition, but by the depth of his relationships, the friendships he formed along the way, and the love he shared with those closest to him. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 8, 2026 in Aamjiwnaang, with family visitation from 11:00 a.m. to noon, followed by a public visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. and service at 1:00 p.m., at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community and Youth Centre, 1972 Virgil Avenue. Private cremation will take place Monday at 9:00 a.m. Burial is planned for the spring in Wiikwedong (Kettle Point), alongside his mother, Sadie Bressette. The family gratefully acknowledges the outpouring of support from the Aamjiwnaang community and the many shared memories formed over Bee-Bop’s journey. Baamaapii, Bee-Bop. As he continues on with his ancestors across Niswi-Ishkodewinan Anishinaabe Territory, his spirit plate was filled with favorites: McPancakes, tobacco, and anishinaabe-zhiiwaagamizigan maple syrup.
