WILSON, Audrey Wilson

She was born in Winnipeg on May 14, 1924, and lived a remarkable 101 years, passing away on November 26, 2025, in Penticton, BC. Joyce leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her humour, strength, and spirited personality.

Joyce was a wonderfully funny lady—truly “out there” in the most delightful way. Her boldness and quick wit made her unforgettable, and her care aides adored her for the joy she brought. Earlier in life, she served proudly as a military secretary, a role she always spoke of with pride. Though she loved to sing and longed to entertain the troops, she was just a little too young during the wartime years—but she never stopped singing.

A gifted knitter, Joyce’s hands were rarely still, creating warm treasures for the people she loved. She was also famous for her pork roast, a beloved family favourite and her apple cake with caramel sauce. Music was one of her lifelong joys, and she had a special affection for Engelbert Humperdinck, whose songs she played often.

In her final days,  Joyce was peaceful and ready, looking forward to being reunited with her dear siblings, all of whom predeceased her.

She is survived by children Leslie Wilson (Ron Leew), David (Karon) Wilson, Bruce (Louise) Wilson, and Keith (May) Wilson. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Madison Leew.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at a later date.
