Bertha Wilson was a devoted wife, mother, and hardworking businesswoman whose determination and faith guided her throughout her life. Together with her late husband, Edward, she built and ran Wilson Roofing while raising their five children. Their dedication and perseverance made the business a success and provided a strong foundation for their family.
A woman of deep faith, Bertha was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and found strength in her beliefs through life’s challenges. She moved on to join Carriage Country Baptist Church where she remained a proud, active and contributing member.
After she and Edward retired, Bertha’s energy and ambition led her to a new chapter. When faced with difficulty finding work, she boldly walked into Orange Julius in Belleville and offered her help—quickly proving herself indispensable. Her determination and leadership earned her the position of district manager, overseeing franchises across southern Ontario from Cornwall to Windsor, including downtown Toronto’s Eaton Centre. She was respected and admired for her professionalism and drive—a true force to be reckoned with.
Outside of work, Bertha found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved five-pin bowling in her ladies’ league and, ever the competitor, took up golf at the age of 75, enjoying many games with her sister. Above all, her family was her greatest passion and the heart of her world.
Bertha’s legacy of faith, family, and perseverance will live on in all who knew and loved her.
