WINTERS, Arvilla Winters

Arvilla was born on April 2nd, 1929 in Earlton, Ontario to Gordon and Adeline Rooney where she lived until her marriage to Ellis Winters on October 26th, 1949. They lived on the farm in Thornloe until 1966 when they moved to New Liskeard, Ontario.

Arvilla leaves behind her daughter Linda (John) Charlton, Henderson, Nevada and son Randy (Dr. Wendy Ing) Winters New Liskeard, Ontario. Son in laws Dennis Bolger, Calgary, Alberta, and Terry Hearn, Brantford, Ontario. Grandchildren Jeremiah (Holly) Charlton, Jarrett (Amanda) Charlton, Sarah Vessey, Shannon Bolger, Tyson Hearn, Lori (Shawn Dale) Bell, Avery Winters, Landen Winters and 11 great grandchildren. Plus, numerous nieces and nephews.

Arvilla was predeceased by her husband Ellis, daughters Retta Bolger and Marilyn Hearn. Her brothers Wilbert, David, Wallace, Howard, Albert. Sisters May Neal and Myrtle Rodgers.

Arvilla was known for all the quilts she made by hand throughout the years for family and friends. For many years she participated in New Liskeard and Englehart Fall Fairs with her baking and sewing. She was well known for her infectious laughter and teasing of the grandchildren. Arvilla was involved with Thornloe United Church and New Liskeard United Church UCW, bake sales and suppers.

We would like to extend our thanks to the staff of the Tri-Town Extendicare for their help and care during our moms last years. In memory of mom, donations may be made to the Cancer Society. As per Arvilla’s wishes cremation has taken place.

A celebration of life will be held this summer in New Liskeard, Ontario.
