WOODWARD, Roy Dan Woodward
May 12, 1938 - January 23, 2026It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roy “Dan” Woodward, affectionately known as Dan, on January 23rd, 2026, at Ross Memorial hospital in Lindsay, with his wife and niece by his side.
Left to mourn Dan are his wife of 63 years: Barbara Woodward (Findlay);His sister in laws: Donna Lloyd and Carol Anderson (Terry), and Ellen Woodward.
“Uncle Dan” will be missed by his nieces and nephews: Tracy (Bruce), Karen (Jim), Hugh (Tara), Erin (Gary),Eric (Claudia), Lisa (James), and Trevor (Kim).
Also, several great nieces and nephews as well as great great nieces and nephews.
Dan was predeceased by his parents: Helen and Garnet; and his younger brother Terry.
A longtime resident of Cannington, Dan served briefly on the HMCS Cayuga while in the Navy, then returned to work in the family business: H. Woodward and Sons, located in Cannington, then on as manager of the local LCBO in Cannington. He became a member of the Cannington Legion #186.
He enjoyed many years coaching and playing hockey here in Cannington.
Dan’s creativity flourished with his many wildlife and landscape paintings. He was a meticulous craftsman, which was evident in the ships he built as well as model trains. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed feeding the numerous birds in his backyard and keeping the bird bath filled with fresh water.
We find comfort in knowing that Dan’s legacy lives on through the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
A Celebration of Life will take place in May after a private family interment.
