WOUD , Antje Woud
August 17, 2025
Peacefully, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, Hillsdale Estates, in Oshawa, surrounded by her loving family, she passed away at the age of 84 after a long journey with dementia. Beloved wife for 52 years of the Late Evert-Michiel Woud. Loving mother of Katrin and her husband Ed Muizelaar of Newcastle, Petra and her husband John Haass of Port Perry, Evert-Michiel “Mike” and his wife Maroesja of the Netherlands, Suzanne (deceased) and her husband at the time, Dan of Bath. Oma of Michael (Laura), Nicole (Travis), and Rachel (Christian), Heather (Monty), Dustin and Nicholas (Caitlyn), Thomas and Zachary, Maaike (Sjoerd) and Lieke (Bram). Great Oma of Alysha, Jacob and Isaac, Savannah, Madison, and Kaia. Predeceased by her parents Herbert Wilhelm Scharpwinkel and Edith Scharpwinkel Detlefsen, her daughter-in-law Michele Woud and her sister Silke Woud.
As a young adult, Antje worked side by side with her uncle as a nurse, a career she was passionate about, for three years before marrying the love of her life, Evert-Michiel. Her life was fulfilled after moving to the Netherlands with her soulmate, where they raised their family of four children. In 1978, the family immigrated to Canada to start the next chapter of their life. Family was everything to Antje, as was her passion for gardening and caring for others. She always made you feel important and would not hesitate to invite you into her home. Later in life, Antje and Evert-Michiel enjoyed a life of travel with their boat and camper to the East and Western coasts of Canada, and south throughout the United States. It was a great joy for her to watch the number of people grow at the dinner table for all celebrations, as her children married and had families of their own.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the staff on Strawberry Fields at Hillsdale Estates.
Rested at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171). Funeral details will be available at a later date. Private interment at Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert.
