WYNIA, Barbara MacKenzie Wynia
October 25, 1959 - February 22, 2026It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara MacKenzie Wynia. A proud potato farmer’s daughter and a nature conservation warrior, Barbara will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara loved family more than anything, being the mama bear to us all. Forever loved by her devoted husband, Michael, for over 40 years, her adoring sons Kristopher and Taylor and their wives Jess and Shelby, and of course her four beautiful grandchildren Freya, Archer, Hollis and Lucy, who she treasured and loved with all of her heart.
Barbara was proud to be the daughter of local farmers and community pillars, Warren and Janet MacKenzie. She kept their memory alive by sharing stories and fond memories of her childhood on the farm with her beloved siblings Sharon Ann, Ken (Janice), and Lori (Rob) whom she cherished deeply, along with all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Barbara was grateful for the love and support from Michael’s family and cherished the time spent with each of them and her nieces and nephews whom she loved so much.
Barbara lit up every room she stepped into, if not by her radiant smile then by her infectious laugh. We hold her in our hearts forever and for always.
We welcome friends and family to join us on Saturday February 28 at the New Lowell United Church for a service beginning at 10:30am, followed by time together at the New Lowell Legion (12:00-3:30) to reminisce on all of Barbara’s accomplishments and share stories of our love for her. We kindly ask all who attend to please wear a pop of colour to commemorate the bright and happy moments we have.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Sick Kids Foundation or Ontario Nature.
