YANCEY, Grant Yancey

November 27, 1953 - November 23, 2025
YANCEY, Grant Yancey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Grant Yancey, who left us peacefully on November 23, 2025, just 4 days shy of his 72nd birthday. Grant was born in Edmonton and grew up in Fawcett, Alberta. Together with his wife and children they made their life in Victoria, where they built a strong network of friends, through work, volunteering, baseball, and community events.

Grant shared 51 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda. They created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Grant was immensely proud of their 4 children: Brooks (Erin), Stefan (Jadea), Ben (Alia), and Megan (Dwayne). Being their father and a husband – and later a grandfather – is what he cherished most. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Caleb, Logan, Parker, Drew, Everett, Nixon, and Carmanah, each of whom brought him deep happiness.

Grant is also survived by his brother Vic Yancey (Anna), and he leaves behind a large and cherished extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends across Alberta and beyond – each of whom held him close and loved him dearly.

Grant spent his career as a respiratory therapist, and he dedicated many years to serving his community as a volunteer firefighter in View Royal. He also enjoyed working as a part-time farmer alongside his brother-in-law, embracing the rhythm of the land and the satisfaction of honest work.

Grant will be remembered for his calming presence, his humour, his devotion to family, and his deep capacity for kindness. He showed his loved ones what it meant to live with integrity and an open heart, and he leaves behind a legacy rooted in generosity, service, and the enduring bonds of family.

Grant’s absence will be felt profoundly, but the impact of his life – and the love he poured into those around him – will live on in all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 21st, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Victoria Scottish Community Centre in View Royal.
