He will be missed by his surviving sisters, Beverly, Judy, Jenice, Darlene, Debbie, and brothers, Randy and Rodney.

Dereck worked as a spray painter; he took pride in his work and he did it well. He had a deep devotion for the Maple Leaf’s and hoped he would see them win the Stanley Cup again. He loved working on his gardening and listening to music. Refinishing furniture was one of his favourite hobbies.

Dereck was a private man and his family wish to abide by his wishes, there will be no services held at this time.

His battle with Cirrhosis of the Liver was well fought and in honour of him the family request that in lieu of flowers family and friends can please make a donation to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
