The Young Family of Goderich sadly announce the passing of their beloved Mother, wife and best friend Margaret on Saturday, August 30th 2025. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Marg was wife and best friend to her husband Frank of over five decades and proud Mother to daughter Cortney of Kitchener, and her partner Scott and Scott’s daughters Lauren and Claire, and her son Kyle and his wife Tonya of London and their son Bishop. Marg had a lengthy and honoured career as a Registered Nurse having graduated from the former Perth Huron School of Nursing in 1972 and was employed with St. Elizabeth health care in Huron County as a visiting nurse right up to her passing. Marg was a dedicated Nurse who assisted so many both on and off the job. In her final weeks of battling cancer, she called on her close friends and colleagues from St. Elizabeth to walk her through to eternity. Marg was survived by sister Judy Dunnell and Gus (Janine) Hamilton. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Dorothy Hamilton and brothers Robert, Cliff, Douglas (Jake), Barry and David. Marg was raised in the village of Trowbridge on the banks of the Maitland River outside Listowel. She was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jay’s fan. A huge baseball fan, she could watch anyone play whether it be her own kids, Frank’s slow pitch teams or local ball tournaments she enjoyed them all. She had many hobbies she loved bingo, slots, board games, card games, reading a good novel, puzzles, sudoku all while enjoying a hot coffee or a Coors Light. Her favourite places on earth were the family cottage at Bogies Beach and Frank & Marg’s winter home in Largo, Florida. Once a friend of Marg’s you were a friend for life, she was a vault and kept your secrets but also gave sound caring advice. Cremation has taken place by Ontario Cremation Services of London, Ontario. The Young family would like to recognize the following agencies and individuals who assisted in her care over the last few months of this journey namely: from St. Elizabeth Health Care Dan, Marini, Elaine, Fallon, Amanda and Brooklynn, to Nurse Practitioner Kendal Schlooser of Ontario Health, from Alexander Marine and General hospital all those in the Emergency Department, Imaging and the 3rd floor nursing team during her brief stays in the hospital. To Doctors Mike Dawson and Tanvi Vakil for your dedication & compassion during her hospital stays and direction. To the Verspeeten Cancer centre at Victoria Hospital in London namely: Dr. Hamid Mithoowani, Oncology and Dr. George Rodrigues from Radiology and the satellite medical team at the Wingham Hospital in her Immunotherapy treatments and Dr. Michael Mitchell from the Respirology department of Victoria Hospital. Not to forget Dr. Greg Antoniadis from the Listowel – Wigham and Area Family Health Team. Lastly the medical personnel at the Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida where this journey all began back in April. God Bless you all and thank you. Celebration of Life to honour Marg will be held Saturday October 4th at the Goderich Legion from 1-5pm – speeches around 2pm. Marg would love to see you in your Blue Jays/Maple Leaf’s gear or your favourite sports team, flip flops if you please – lets keep it casual!
