Gentle AllanGENTLE, Allan Frank  -   Allan Frank Gentle passed away peacefully at age 84, on January 11, 2022 at Andy's House Hospice, Port Carling.

Al was surrounded by family after thriving for 8 years with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, despite a 2-year prognosis.

Al was born in East York to Olive and Frank Gentle in 1937 and moved to Bracebridge in 1976.

He is survived by his loving family, wife Heather Joan (nee Millingen), children Timothy and Maria (Sara) and many relatives, including brother Ron, nephew Gordon (Dawn), niece Trisha, and dear friends, including Ian White.

Al retired after over 40 years working with the Toronto Star as District Representative in Toronto, Scarborough, York Region and Muskoka.

He enjoyed being part of his community, volunteering with Big Brothers in Markham and Muskoka. Al was a lover of music, especially jazz, and sang with the Muskoka Men of Song.

He enjoyed golfing with friends. In retirement, Al worked at the South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club and took up portrait drawing. Al loved a cold beer, watching the Jays and was a long-suffering Leafs fan.

He'll be remembered for his warmth, sense of humour and kind smile.

The family wishes to thank his medical care teams, family, friends and the community for their support.

Al asked in lieu of flowers, consideration be made to supporting Canadian Blood Services, South Muskoka Memorial Hospital or Andy's House Hospice. A memorial will be announced at a later date.
