Gilbert MargaretGILBERT, Margaret Joy   -  November 21, 1946 - January 16, 2022

At 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022, Joy's prayers were answered and her wishes were granted.

She died peacefully at home on her terms, with her father singing on a CD in the background, surrounded by friends and family.

Joy has lived an interesting and fulfilling life, with amazing adventures and travelling the world.

Graduating from Purdue University with a master's degree in Speech Pathology; Joy pursued her profession that led to the formation of her own company "Head Injuries Rehab".

Joy's residence on the bluffs which overlooked Lake Ontario, was a perfect venue for her business venture, a B&B called "Maggie McJoy".

Joy was a generous, compassionate and a caring person. Always going "out of her way" to help the less fortunate. She loved people and people loved her. She was an inspiration to us all and her memory will live on.

In October 2021, Joy had a "Celebration of Life" in her backyard. Joy was presented with many tributes from her friends and family. She appreciated all of the kind words and spending time with the people she loved.

It was a memorable event held in "Joy" style. Joy was predeceased by her beloved parents, Grant and June Gilbert and her brother Bob.

Joy is survived by her nephew Ricky Gilbert and his children Sadie and Myles, her dear sweet Aunt Molly, as well as Lynn Evans, who was like a daughter to her. Joy was a valued family member who will be sadly missed by her many cousins and extended family.

She will also be greatly missed by her many treasured friends. A special thank you to Mary Jane (PSW) who gave Joy years of tender loving care, and Dr. Zinman, Dr. Coish and Dr. Tepper.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at the Thomas Funeral Home in Alliston. Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m. followed by the service at 12 noon.
