IRWIN, Hugh Irwin   -  81, passed away suddenly on November 15, 2022, in his Scarborough home that he had lived in for 50 years.

Hugh was born on March 7, 1941, in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland, to his beloved parents, Caroline and James Irwin.

Hugh and his parents immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1952. Hugh served with the Canadian Army, Queens Own Rifles of Canada, B Company, 1st Battalion from 1958-1961, and was a long serving member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

He retired in 2000, after 35 proud years with the Toronto Board of Education as a 3rd Class Engineer/Chief Caretaker. Hugh is survived by his daughters, Leslie (Derek) Black, and Lauren Irwin (Scott Steel); his grandsons, Liam, Dylan and Justin; his partner, Irene Daly, along with her children; and Elaine Irwin, the mother of his children.

Hugh will be remembered for the love he had for his family, for his spirited character and his love of cars, especially his 1955 Chevy, that he absolutely loved to drive.

He will be dearly missed by his many friends, extended family, former colleagues, neighbours and his car guys family.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 25, 2022, 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., with Chapel visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army. Our hearts are broken; but you will always be in our thoughts and live on in our cherished memories.

We love you Hugh, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Hughie, Brother-In-Law, Father-In-Law, Friend.
