GRIMA, Dame CDR. OSJ, Edith M. (nee PORTEOUS) -
May 18, 1934 - March 9, 2023
The Grima family is sorrowed to announce the passing of our matriarch: Edith passed away quietly in the early morning hours of March 9, 2023, in her home, at the age of 88.
Predeceased in 2020 by her beloved husband of 67 years, John.
Together, they were blessed with four children: John Jr., Victor (Louisa), Marie-Rose, and Georgina.
Loving grandma to: Karina (Darren), Adrienne (Jay), Stephanie (Adam), Lauren (Bronson), Evan (Daniel), Andrew (Tricia), and Johnathan (Kari).
Beloved great-grandmother to: Courtney, Emily, Faith, Abigail, Annabelle, Madison, Jaidan, Myla, Leah, Elliott, Liam, Emmett, Connor, and Olivia.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Betty Curnow (the late Robin); her family; as well as many other family and dear friends.
Predeceased by her sisters, Emily and Jessie. Edith was a former President of the Catholic Women's League at Holy Cross Parish in Toronto.
She was also honoured with Damehood, in the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem. When her husband, John, passed away, the world was shut down in the early days of the Pandemic. T
o honour both of them, friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 291 Cosburn Avenue, East York (at Donlands Avenue), on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 11 a.m.
