CLARKE, Eleanor Marion -
1931 - 2023
With sadness in our hearts, and with fond and loving memories, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Eleanor M. Clarke, surrounded by her family on May 12, 2023, at the age of 92.
Eleanor was born on May 4, 1931, in Scarborough, ON, to parents, Edna Mae Cowan (Jennings) and William "Bill" Cowan; and she was the wife of George Clarke for 43 years.
Eleanor was a devoted mother to her four children, Jane (Robert) Lewis, Carol Ann (Stephen) Ryan, Alan (Gwen) Clarke and Donald Clarke; grandmother to Stephanie, Kevin, Colin, Leslie, Sean (predeceased), Brandon, Lindsey and Hailey; and great-grandmother to Alexander. She is lovingly remembered by Susan Clarke.
Eleanor shared an exceptionally strong bond with her four Cowan sisters, Christina Hunter, Margaret Tapscott, Marie Reesor and Ruth Wood (predeceased).
She also had a very close friendship with her brother-in-law, Ashmore Reesor, in later years. Eleanor loved animals (especially her dogs, Buster, Muffin and Laddie), gardening and cooking for family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 143 Main St. N., Markham. Visitation at 11:00 a.m., with church service at 12:00 p.m. and reception to follow.
