KIERSTEAD, Marilyn   -

August 3, 1938 - September 10, 2023

Marilyn Joan Kierstead (nee Wellwood) passed peacefully, with her children by her side, at the age of 85, on September 10, 2023.

Beloved wife of the late Bill Kierstead (1970) and adored mother of Mark (Carole), Michael (Marla) and Susan Leon (Peter). Best and loving grandma to Thomas, Nikki (Chris), Talia, Marissa, Melanie and William.

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Mac and Ada Wellwood. As a young widow raising her three children, Marilyn ensured her family had many outdoor adventures camping, and most notably, never-ending summers at the Cawaja Beach cottage.

She supported her children through all their endeavours and as grandchildren arrived, she became that grandma with all those pictures in her purse (along with Scotch mints).

Marilyn was also a dedicated, outstanding, long serving member of the administration at Sir Sanford Flemming Secondary School. She was a very active member of her neighbourhood community.

Upon retirement, she enjoyed lifelong learning, plays and dinners with friends.

A Celebration of Life for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Homes, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON L4J 1W3. Visitation will be taking place at 11:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m., followed by a Burial at Highland Memory Gardens.

In kindness, memorial donations to the Toronto Humane Society www.torontohumanesociety.com or the Alzheimer Society of Canada https://alzheimer.ca/en, would be appreciated.
