It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alberto Scalisi on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 90. Alberto was born in Salemi, Sicily, Italy, to the late Vito Scalisi and Marianna Scalisi (née Loiacano). Alberto is also predeceased by his brothers, Giuseppe and Domenico.
Alberto was a beloved husband to Maria (née Carlino) for 59 wonderful years, loving father to Vito (Mary) and Marianna (Joe), and adored Nonno to Alberto (Elisa), Luca, and Alessandra. He was a cherished brother-in-law, zio, and friend to many. He is survived by his siblings, Antonino and Mario.
Alberto’s love for his family and friends was limitless. He embodied honesty, kindness, and generosity. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all.

In Loving Memory of Carolina Spadafora (née Monaco). It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carolina Spadafora (née Monaco), a cherished member of our family and community. Carolina was born in Cellara, Cosenza, to the late Eugenio and Maria Monaco, and her life was a testament to love, family, and kindness.
She leaves behind her beloved brothers, Eduardo Monaco and Silvio (Natalina) Monaco, and is now reunited in eternal peace with her late brothers, Giuseppe Monaco and Pietro Monaco.
Carolina was the devoted wife of the late Attilio Spadafora, her soulmate of 57 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family, raising their three children: Claudia (Joe) Benvenuto, Tony (Vicky) Spadafora, and Silvana (Joe) Perrotti. Her legacy lives on in her 10 grandchildren, who she loved with all her heart: Rinaldo Benvenuto, Luigina Benvenuto (Paul Traikos), Daniel Spadafora, Christina Benvenuto-Cornacchia (Anthony Cornacchia), Jacqueline Spadafora, Nicole (Rimon) Isha, Michael Perrotti, Andrew Perrotti (Daniela Barrera), Thomas Perrotti (Aly Signorile), and Christopher Perrotti.
Carolina’s pride and joy extended to her seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored: Katherine Benvenuto (Adriano Caponetto), Maria Benvenuto, Claudia Benvenuto, Thomas Lonsdale, Lucas Cornacchia, Bianca Benvenuto, and Maceo Isha. Carolina will be deeply missed by her extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her boundless love, generous spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family.

It is with immense sadness that the family announces the passing of Paul Thomas Somerville, who left us peacefully at home on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the age of 54. Born in Toronto, Paul was a devoted father to Harrison, Carly, and Mia. He was the cherished son of Bill and April, a beloved brother to Steven (Diana) and Dawn (Mark), and a fun-loving uncle to Erin, Jamie, Lauren, Connor, Megan, and Cameron.
Paul was known for his generous and forgiving nature, and his children meant the world to him. He will be deeply missed by his lifelong friends who could always count on his support and laughter. His colleagues at Research Capital will fondly remember Paul as “the longest-serving Branch Manager on Bay Street.”
Paul found joy in spending time with his children, golfing, gardening, cooking, and collecting Jordans. A true sports fanatic and betting enthusiast, he also delighted in making others laugh.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mario Felici on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at home at the age of 87. Born on March 3, 1937, in Rome, Lazio, Italy, Mario was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Mario leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Angela, and his loving daughters Nadia (Dino) and Claudia (Dan). He was a proud Nonno to Lucas (Carly), Michael, Julia, and Jessica. He is also survived by his sister Maria Pia (late Amador) and brother Angelo (Elena). Mario was predeceased by his brothers Antonio, Claudio, and Augusto, and his sister Elide.
Mario will be remembered as a gentle and loving man, an example of kindness, selflessness, and strength. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews and a beloved member of his family and community.

Peacefully at Southlake Residential Care Village in Newmarket, Louise Elizabeth Raby passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the age of 64 years. She was a much-loved mother to John Raby (Kristen Williamson) of Keswick, Bradley Raby (Victoria Benacqustia) of Alberta, and Shane McKenna of England. Louise was a cherished Nana to Sidney, Sophie-Lynn, and the late Brayden.
She will be dearly missed by her siblings Tom Link, Jim Link, Lynette Link, Connie Link, and Derrick Wills, as well as her family and many friends. Special thanks go to Ray Ekstrom, Elaine Geniole, and the caregivers at Southlake Village for their loving care and compassion.

On Saturday, November 30th, 2024, Kris Tobias was unexpectedly and tragically taken from us at the age of 56 while riding his bike in Durham Forest on the trails he had loved for over 30 years. Kris was a beloved husband to Sulyn for 29 years, a devoted father to Isabel, Johan, and Logan, and a loving brother to Kirk (Paula). He was a cherished friend, mentor, and inspiration to many.
A leader and enthusiast of life, Kris was passionate about cycling, cars, music, and forging personal connections. He was a first-generation Canadian, raised by Jewish immigrant parents from Brooklyn, NY. Kris's professional journey was as remarkable as his character, earning his BBA and MBA from Schulich School of Business and excelling in the telecom industry. In 2002, Kris co-founded "Ride for Karen," raising $2.7 million for children with cancer in honor of his late mother.
Kris will be profoundly missed. Friends and family will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street Markham North, on Thursday, December 12th, from 1-3 pm and 6-9 pm. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, in the Chapel at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.
In honor of Kris, donations can be made to the Durham Mountain Biking Association, where a segregated Memorial Fund is being created in his name. The fund will focus on improving safety, accessibility, and emergency preparedness within the trail networks in Durham and York Regions.
