Alan Frederick James Passant
February 28, 1939 - March 5, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alan Frederick James Passant, a cherished family man and talented mechanic, who peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, surrounded by family at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa.
Alan grew up in the Bowmanville area and was truly a jack of all trades. His passion for cars, trucks, and motorcycles led to a fulfilling career as a licensed mechanic. He worked at Burley Bus Line and McCallum Transport before dedicating the rest of his career to General Motors, where he even traveled to Iraq to train fellow mechanics.
In 1969, Alan married the love of his life, Carol, and together they raised their daughters, Tracy and Shannon, and cherished their grandson, Gerald. He was known for his enthusiasm for rebuilding small engines, his love of country music, RVing, and his many trips to Dollywood in the Smoky Mountains. Always with a project on the go, Alan was never too busy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Carol Savoy Passant; daughters, Tracy and Shannon; grandsons, Gerald, William, and Alexander; sister, Mary Mackie; and brother-in-law, Larry Mackie. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Lawrence, and his parents, Elida Ruth Cobbledick Passant and Ernest Lloyd George Passant.
Memorial donations may be made to SickKids Foundation.
