Christensen RichardCHRISTENSEN, Richard  -

 October 15, 1946 - January 26, 2024

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (brother, Allan); mom, Rita; siblings, Ruth (Terry), Cathy (James), Bernard (Joan), and their families.

Early on he lived in Capreol, proving to be an avid athlete as he played cricket, hockey (Capreol's Rebel team, District Champions), squash, and his favorite, baseball.

Later, Richard graduated from St. Mike's U of T, and taught physics and chemistry for 37 years for the Peel Board as well as coaching student sports.

Additionally, he strongly supported the teachers' union. After retiring, he worked for the ILC, continued to tutor students, and attaining Microsoft Certification, he assisted many a senior with computer issues.

Known to frequent coffee shops, he made many longtime friends there while also keeping in touch with his colleagues, former St. Mike's room/classmates, and his neighbours.

His many interests included a love of classical music. Richard was fascinated with economics, politics, environmentalism, and lifelong learning endeavors. Richard was a fervent Leafs and Jays fan.

At home, he was an ardent steward of his garden, caring for his lawn, flowers, and especially the large trees.

Having a great sense of civic responsibility led Richard to make numerous calls to 311 regarding potholes and graffiti! Above all, Richard was a kind, generous and loyal man of integrity.

Celebration of life to be held in the spring.

Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to St. Michael's Hospital.
