Bob passed away peacefully, on February 1, 2024.
Best friend and husband of the late Ann (nee Witthun) for almost 70 years.
Bob was a devoted and loving father to Susan McAllister (Stephen) and Janet McKelvie (Colin).
Predeceased by daughter, Catherine Ann; and infant son, Andrew; brothers, Don, James and Paul; and best friend, Craig Witthun. He was an ever-proud Boppa to Leslie (Renzo), Kathryn, Christine (Peter), Rob (Aylin), Catrina and Levi. Grand Boppa to Ramona, Bennett, Mackenzie, Rowan, Ella and Otto; and much-loved uncle to Deb Curle (Brad), Donna Bennett (Brian Finley) and family.
Bob was the third son of Dwight (A.D.) Bennett and Flossie (Metcalfe). He was born and raised in Campbellford, ON. He was proud of his career in retailing, starting in the family furniture and funeral business in Campbellford, and owning and operating Canadian Tire stores in Kingston, Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury until his retirement in 1992.
He was a life member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge, achieved his amateur radio license VE3ALP in 1947, and was a founding member of the Probus Club of Trent Hills.
Friends and family are invited to visitation at the Weaver Family Funeral Home, 77 Second St., Campbellford, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A service for Bob will be held on Friday at St. John's United Church, Campbellford, at 2:00 p.m. Reception in the church gymnasium to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Westben, Friends of Ferris Park, Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. John's United Church in Campbellford where he was a lifelong member, or plant a tree in his memory.
