YANO, Sally Sakaye - It's with great sorrow that the family of Sally Sakaye Yano announces her passing, in her 97th year, at St. Joseph's Health Centre on Friday, February 24, 2024.
She is survived by her children, Craig (Julie), Janice (Stan), Sharon, Brian (Yu Kyung), and Bruce; and siblings, Molly (Tak) and Patti (the late John).
She was the most fun and loving "Grandma" to Rachel, Alex, Megan, and Sidney.
Predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Satoshi; daughter, Cynthia; grandchildren, Brittany and Joshua; and siblings, Chisae (the late Minoru), Marie (the late Johnny), and Dick (Nella).
Mom was such an amazing person who was so selfless. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, extended family and friends, all who had a close relationship with her. She had an adventurous, fun spirit and a real zest for life.
She also loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays and The Young and Restless, enjoyed karaoke, ballroom dancing, bowling and vacationing in Hawaii. Her greatest joy was anytime she spent with her family and especially when we visited her at our weekly Sunday dinners.
A celebration of life will be held at Scott Funeral Home - Mississauga Chapel, located at 420 Dundas St. E., Mississauga, from 12:30-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
To commemorate her life, feel free to wear something colourful. If you would like to write an anonymous, fun story or anything about our mom, there will be a collection box where it can be dropped when you arrive.
Some will be shared that day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre or the Toronto Buddhist Church.
