John William Schnare

August 15, 1959 – November 24, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John William Schnare on November 24, 2024, at the age of 66, at Sault Area Hospital. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

John is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Kelly, his son Darren (Jana), and his daughter Nicole (Shaun). He was a proud and devoted “Papa John” to his grandchildren Max, Zara, Price, Maverick, and Colt. Predeceased by his parents, Carl and Eleanor, John is lovingly remembered by his siblings Carolyn (David), Eleanor (Paul), Susan, Chris, and Richard (Kim), as well as by many nieces and nephews.

John had a passion for music and could often be found enjoying his extensive collection either indoors or outside in the fresh air. He also loved the outdoors and dedicated many years to working for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, creating lifelong memories and friendships. His storytelling and sense of humor were cherished by his colleagues and friends, including Bill Parker, Shane Stuart, and his childhood friend, Steven Pinnell, with whom he shared a lifelong bond.

The Schnare family extends their gratitude to the team at Sault Area Hospital, particularly Dr. Bowen, Dr. Law, Nurse Dan, and the staff on 3B, for their compassionate care during John’s final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to The Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society, reflecting his love for dogs and all animals.
