deceased-imgSMITH, Barbara Ann Smith - 13-Jul-1932 - 31-Aug-2024

Sadly, but with love and gratitude, we share the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Barbara Ann Smith (nee Millar) on August 31, 2024, at the age of 92. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Winnifred Millar, her brothers John and Robert, and her sister Eleanor; she is survived by her husband of 70 years, Hugh, her children Beverly (John Hoefs), Douglas (Donna McAleer), Debra (Paul Caissie) and Glenn (Deb Thompson), her sisters, Jean and Margaret (Grenville Barnes) her grandchildren, Braden, Randy, Jeremy, Jean Paul, Annika, Chantelle, Jonathan, James, Melanie and Brianne, and her great grandchildren, Nora, Jack, Emmett, Willa and Isobel, along with countless relatives and friends who felt her warmth and generosity. Throughout her life, mom enjoyed cooking, horseback riding, antiquing, playing baseball, golf, gardening and caring for her many pets. But, her greatest passion was her family, and she surrounded them with unconditional love and support. Many thanks to Angie, Corrine and Tina for their exemplary home care. Visitation will take place Friday, September 6 at 9:30 am, to be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 am, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, ON. Interment at Mount Lawn Cemetery, followed by a Reception at Mount Lawn Funeral Home. If you are considering a floral tribute, we suggest including mom’s favourite colour, yellow; or wearing something yellow at the service. If you are unable to attend the funeral service but wish to watch it via the Livestream, please click the following link to register: Funeral Service Link
Donations in mom’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society, Diabetes Canada, or the Durham Humane Society would also be appreciated.
