Justine Catherine Sullivan
2024
Justine Catherine Sullivan passed away at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario, after a courageous fight with cancer. Justine was known for her love of learning, intelligence, and a great sense of humor. She was an Ontario scholar, a graduate of The Toronto French School, the University of Toronto, and Ontario Teachers College. A proud member of Mensa Canada, Justine brought joy and wit to everyone she met.
Her passion for education led her to teach French for the Durham School Board before becoming a home room teacher. She had a deep love for books, particularly historical fiction, and a remarkable ability to connect with children, which made her a dedicated and inspiring educator.
Justine’s greatest joy in life was her children. She was a devoted and loving mother to Liam, Niamh, and Asher, who were her world.
Justine is deeply mourned by her mother, Linda N. Syrota (formerly Sullivan); her sister, Camille (Jimmy); her sister, Chloé; her brother, Danny; her children’s father, Ian Daly; her uncle, Douglas Syrota; and her stepmother, Lauren Sullivan, along with Lauren’s sister, Linny. She was predeceased by her father, Paul J. Sullivan, Q.C., who passed away just one day before her. Justine was cherished by her late grandparents, Norman and Catherine Syrota, after whom she was named.
Special thanks go to her dear friends, Aurelia, Mel, and Marco, for their unwavering love and support. A celebration of Justine’s life will be held in the spring.
We extend our heartfelt sympathies to Justine’s family and friends during this difficult time. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who loved her.
