ORR, William Orr

ORR, William  - Our beloved Laird can rest at last, having worked so hard for so long.

He was that teacher who changed many lives because he taught with love.

He was that counselor who brought peace and healing because he healed with love.

And he was that writer, that beautiful writer, whose wise associates were literally "Out of This World." Compassionate, generous, kind to a fault, he was that husband, that parent, that friend whom everyone deserves but few can call their own.

And being humble he would blush at that tribute and quietly deflect those words. But they are all true. "His heart was pure and he had the strength of ten."

While we, his family, grieve our loss we are so grateful for our precious time together; his wife Patti; along with Raymond and Monika, Emily and Stewart, Sam and Jessica, Catherine and Greg; and grandchildren, Emanuel, Isabel, Owen, Avery, Elliott and Henry.

For we have stood at the abyss to see at last this perfect Peace and there is Light, only Light And there is Love, only Love And we are home.

A Celebration of Life will take place on July 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Metropolitan United Church, 56 Queen St., East Toronto.

HAMP, Bonnie-Jean Hamp

HAMP, Bonnie-Jean  -  Bonnie passed away on June 24, 2024 at Princess Margaret Hospital, ending a 13-year struggle with lymphoma.

She was the best friend and beloved wife of Robert for over 50 wonderful years and the cherished and much-loved mother of Christina. Bonnie was the only child of the late John and Jean MacDonald.

A graduate of the University of Toronto and OISE, Bonnie had a brief whirl in fashion before deciding to enter teaching: a profession that offered neither glamour nor fame but enabled her to make a positive difference in the lives of hundreds of students during a 35-year career.

It was not uncommon for former pupils to recognize her and greet her warmly when seeing her out and about in various parts of Toronto.

Bonnie will be remembered by friends and neighbours for her elegance, social grace and sense of style. She also possessed a wonderfully dry wit accompanied by an ever-present sparkle in her eyes.

She was an extraordinarily strong and compassionate woman, constantly putting others before herself.

Very special thanks to Dr. Roger Tiedemann, Dr. Abi Vijenthira, Dr. Victoria Smart and the remarkable caregivers at Princess Margaret Hospital. Heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Steven Fried for his many years of friendship and compassionate care. Private cremation has taken place.

Respecting Bonnie's wishes there will be no funeral service or celebration of life at this time. Bonnie's departure leaves a deep void in the lives of everyone who knew her.

Goodbye dear lady, you will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts
