RUKHOLM, Linda   -  September 14, 1923, Pärispea, Estonia August 26, 2022, Scarborough

Linda passed away at the Ehatare Retirement Home.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harald, in 1984.

Taylor JohnTAYLOR, John Edward   -  October 23, 1925 - August 26, 2022

John passed away on August 26, 2022.

He will be sadly missed by his step-daughters, Marion Jr., Jeanette and Lauralea, their families and his many friends.

John lived life to the fullest.

He was born in Simonstown, South Africa, where his father was stationed at the then British Admiralty's South Atlantic Naval Base.

On his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the South African Corps of Signals - and saw active service in the Middle East and Italy.

After his return to South Africa, demobilization and completing his education, John set out to work his way around the globe, spending time in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, North America and Great Britain.

Medakovic EllaMEDAKOVIC, Ella - (2001 - 2022) - It is with a heavy heart, Cheryl and Dan announce the passing of their beloved daughter, Ella, and much-loved sister of her brother, Charles (Dasha).

Cherished and loved by grandparents, Marilyn and Norm Macneall. Lovingly remembered by partner, Taylor; and step-grandma, Marlene. Predeceased by grandparents, John and Rajka Medakovic; and Carl Breukelman.

Will be missed by: Uncle Jason (Margie), Aunt Zlata (Mike), Uncle Vlado (Azita), Uncle Tom, Aunt Donna; and cousins and friends.

FANTIN, Giuseppe   -  God called Giuseppe Fantin, peacefully, on August 25, 2022, at the age of 100.

He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Bruna.

Hanna Dr SherifHANNA, Dr. Sherif Sami  -  July 23, 1948 - August 25, 2022

Dr. Sherif Sami Hanna passed away peacefully, on August 25, 2022, at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after a year-long battle with leukemia.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary-Lou; his children, Timothy (Jeanette) and Joy (Dan); his six grandchildren; his siblings, Jeanette, Margaret, Fouad; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sherif is predeceased by his parents, Sami and Salma Hanna; and beloved brothers, John and Samir.

Sherif was born in Cairo, Egypt, on July 23, 1948.

He arrived in Canada in 1970, completing his general surgery residency at the University of Toronto in 1976.

Sherif was a renowned surgeon and teacher.

BIRCH, Myrna Rae (nee BLAKENEY)   - 1939 - 2022  Myrna's family announces her peaceful passing on August 25, 2022, surrounded by family. 

She was born on May 18, 1939, in Halifax, to Isabel (Blakeney) Davison (nee Brunt) (deceased) and Lloyd Allan Blakeney (deceased).

She was married to the love of her life, Stanley Birch, from Macclesfield, England (deceased). 

Millar MargaretMILLAR, Margaret Anne   -  December 10, 1944 – August 25, 2022

Peacefully, at her home in Wychwood Park, Toronto, on August 25, 2022, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Anne leaves her best friend and beloved husband of 38 years, H. Donald Gutteridge.

Predeceased by her parents, Dr. J. Charles Millar and Elizabeth (née Halliday). She will be dearly missed by her sister, Janet Balkwill (late John); and her nieces, Anne Hodgson (Andrew) and Kristy Balkwill.

Also survived by her brother, Robert Millar (Gail); niece, Kelly Millar (children, Charlie and Teddy Dennis); and nephew, Thomas Millar. Cherished by her sister-in-law, Carol Macfarlane; and extended family, James Macfarlane (Lucio Noccentini), John and Amy (Lewtas) Macfarlane; and their children, James, Cole and Reid, and Heather Macfarlane (Armand Ruffo); and her son, Alex Macfarlane-Ruffo.

Dunlop SheilaDUNLOP, Sheila Kathryn Harrison (nee HODGSON)   -  At Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Ontario on Thursday, August 25, 2022, Sheila Kathryn (nee Hodgson) Harrison Dunlop died in her 73rd year.

Born January 21, 1950, in Hamilton, to Percy William Hodgson and Ruby Doreen Smith.

Now reunited with her beloved husband and partner, William (Bill) Alexander Dunlop (2016).

Survived by Bill's daughter, Paula (Andrew MacEachern); and Nana to their children, Bryn and Cade.

Sister of the late Jane (2019) (Dr. John Gregg) of St. Catharines and Corinne (Dr. Douglas Swallow) of Burlington.

Aunt of Katie Gregg of Fort Erie.

AVERY, George   - At Etobicoke General Hospital, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the age of 88.

Dearly beloved husband for 63 years of the late Sheila Avery, nee Ritchie.

Loving father of Timothy and his wife, Daniela.

Comninel GeorgeCOMNINEL, George C.    -  Passed away suddenly, at his Toronto home, in his seventy-first year.

Beloved partner of forty-six years of Ann Ball; son of the late Dorothy and Constantine Comninel, brother of Mary Comninel, Pat Fisher and Bill Comninel.

Fondly remembered by the extended Ball/Comninel/Brophy families.

Born in Washington Heights, New York City, George spent thirty years teaching at York University and also serving as the Chair of York's University Senate and of the Political Science Department.

A respected scholar, George was a warm person who impressed all he knew; he held dear friendships reaching back as far as fifty years.

Veals NancyVEALS, Nancy (nee LEARD)   -  September 6, 1941 - August 24, 2022

On August 24th, Nancy Veals (nee Leard) passed away.

Predeceased by her husband, Merton Veals. Loving mother to Scott (Cynthia), Steve (Ron) and Shannon (Dave); grandmother to Caleb (Katie), Marcus, Andrew and Nathan.

Nancy was an intelligent, passionate and determined woman.

She was full of laughter and love; her children and grandchildren meant the world to her.

Nancy served the Durham region as an exceptional nurse for 40 years.

Bromley Eckert KarenBROMLEY ECKERT, Karen Winnifred   -  September 4, 1942 - August 24, 2022

Passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2022.

Beloved wife of John M. Eckert; loving mother to Yvann, Cassidy (George), John William (Rebecca), Hazel (Daniel), and Michael; doting grandmother to Odessa.

Karen will also be deeply missed by the entire Bromley and Eckert families and countless friends and colleagues.

There will be a drop-in at the family home October 1st from 1 to 4 p.m.

Woods BobWOODS, Bob - (1936 - 2022) - It is with great sadness that the family of Bob announces his passing on August 23rd, 2022.  Bob passed away peacefully at Markhaven Long Term Care at the age of 86. 

Bob was a great husband, father and grandfather. 

He is survived by Pat, his wife of 62 years and his son Paul, and his grandchildren Carolyn, Taylor and Evan.

Bob is predeceased by his son John.

Bob was born in Thunder Bay to Leta Morton and Stanley Woods in 1936. 

Bob enjoyed many years in the fledgling computer industry with wonderful coworkers at GE and Honeywell starting back in the 1960’s.

NOBLE, Marlene Joan (nee BOW) - (July 19, 1934 - August 23, 2022) - In Loving Memory Passed away peacefully, at home, in her 89th year, on Tuesday, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband, Stuart Noble, parents, Lily and Henry Bow, siblings: Len Bartlett (Ruth), June O'Donnell (Dennis) and Vera Miller (George).

Devoted mother to Linda, Patty, Jim (Julie), and Janette (Pete).

Single EricSINGLE, Eric Werner Single  -  Died peacefully in his home, on August 23, 2022, at the age of 78, surrounded by loved ones.

Dr. Single was a retired professor of Public Health at University of Toronto.

He enjoyed a long and successful career in the field of addiction and economic cost estimation, being the sole or senior author of 12 books and 45 articles in referred journals.

As prolific as he was in his work, Eric was equally passionate about his numerous interests and hobbies.

He was an avid birdwatcher, golfer and tennis player, and over the years he collected many accolades and trophies to prove it.

BAERVELDT, Matthew   -  Matthew passed away in his 81st year, on August 22, 2022, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease.

He leaves his loving wife, Vanessa; and beloved daughter, Ardith.

Predeceased by his parents, Max and Marianne; and his two brothers, Konrad and George.

Brick RobertBRICK, Robert (Bob)   -  Today we announce the loss of Robert (Bob) Brick who passed away on August 22, 2022, after a short illness.

Bob was born on July 9, 1950 to Catherine and Frederick Brick.

Bob was a great friend, brother, father and grandfather. While certainly sad at his passing, we are all grateful for the extraordinary benefit to having had Bob in our life.

He was a constant source of love and guidance; we are all much better for that presence.

Bob retired from a lengthy career dedicated to meeting the needs of his fellow Canadians.

After serving in the Canadian military, he worked in the field of real estate management at the municipal, provincial and federal level.

KUNSMAN, Richard "Dick"  - Sadly, Dick passed away at Scarborough General Hospital, on Monday, August 22, 2022, at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Helen; dear father of Jeffrey; grandfather of Kara.

WHITE, Violet "Vi" Alberta (nee NEWELL)   -  February 23, 1926 - August 22, 2022

Violet, in her 97th year, passed peacefully on August 22, 2022. 

Born in Toronto to Thomas Joseph and Alberta Newell (nee Flett), Vi was the youngest of five, predeceased by her siblings, Charles, Kathleen Collingwood, Sarah, Evelyn Keaveney; and her niece, Valerie Collingwood.

McWHINNIE, Marsha (nee Kravitz) - Marsha McWhinnie (nee Kravitz) passed away peacefully, at home on August 21, 2022, at the age of 77.

She is lovingly remembered by Jim, her husband of 50 years. By her children, Annie (Kevin Watson), Diane (Howard Richardson), Paul and his son Torulv and family. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews: Elly Winer (Jane Hargraft), Aviva Gottlieb (Matthew), Michael Winer (Rachel); and great-nieces, Jessica, Allison, Rachel, and Eleanor.

JABLONSKY, Larissa   -  Born August 13, 1923 in Konotop, Ukraine.

Died peacefully, at the age of 99, at Village of Humber Heights in Toronto.

Predeceased by her parents, Sophie and Alexander Bremer; and husband, Jaroslaw "Jerry".

Myers AllanMYERS, Allan   -  1963 - 2022  Allan was brilliant, creative, funny - a big-thinker who inspired others to be the same.

He was born August 5, 1963 in Surrey, BC. Allan spent his career working on some of the biggest news productions in Canada and the US, and most recently as an award-winning Senior Director for CTV News.

His bosses called him one of the most talented people in the TV business.

He was a man with a vision who could bring out the best in people, whether at a meeting, during a live broadcast or over oysters.

Allan passed away suddenly, leaving all who knew him heartbroken.

His mother, Carol, followed him 10 days later.

CHALLIS, Beatrice Yvonne (nee GRIMBLEBY)   -  On Sunday, August 21, 2022, the day after her 99th birthday, peacefully, at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Darling wife of Jim; and dear sister of Murray and Ruth, each of whom predeceased her.
