It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Grutta. She passed peacefully on Saturday, April 18th, 2020 at Baycrest Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Maria was the proud daughter of Giovanni and Leonarda Tobia; the cherished sister of Nicola Tobia; the devoted wife of the late Erasmo Grutta; and the loving mother of Tony and Denise, John and Suzie, Antonella and John, and Leonarda (Dina).

BRAATEN, Dr. Jan Thorleif - On Saturday April 18, 2020, we mourn the passing of Dr. Jan Thorleif Braaten at the age of 83.
Jan was born on January 21, 1937 in Oslo, Norway to Thorleif and Randi Braaten.
Dr. Jan Braaten completed his degree in medicine at the University of Oslo in 1962. Jan’s curiosity, ambition, and sense of adventure led him to receive training, practice medicine, and conduct research in several countries around the world. This included time in Norway, Denmark, Republic Democratique du Congo (Zaire), Ottawa Canada, and several states in the United States, including Massachusetts, Texas, and Florida.

Pavlo is survived by his wife Violet, daughter Michele (Dale), daughter Lawrie (César), and son Evan (Yvonne) and his three grandchildren Hunter, Logan and Willow.

ADAMSON, James Hamilton - October 16, 1918 - February 18, 2020
Born in Pickering, Ontario, and raised on a small farm in Hampton, Jim was the first child of Ernest and Sarah "Sadie" Adamson (nee Toyne).
An early life of hard physical work and eager study led him on to many achievements: he became an RCAF officer and senior radar technician in WWII, an engineer (graduate of U of T), a do-it-yourself handyman and house builder, a math teacher at Dunbarton High School, a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers), a director at Camp NeeKauNis, an avid gardener, reader, wine-maker, and player of cards, and the author of his memoirs "One Plus One Makes Seven".

Born on March 23, 1926 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he was the son of Joseph and Annie McGuinness.
Leo gained an engineering qualification in Northern Ireland and joined the Merchant Navy in 1947.
He worked as an engineer on various ships, including the Aquitania - one of the Cunard liners.

On October 30, 1921 Icsolene Larosa (Green) Giscombe began her earthly journey in Sydney, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She lived a life full of compassion, empathy and an abundance of love.
Mom left us on April 18, 2020 within the stillness of night where peace reigned infinitely.

BURNS, Jeanne Dorothy (nee KANE) - Jeanne passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the age of 91.
Born along with her twin brother Joe in Stratford, ON in October 1928, she was the youngest of 9 children, raised by a strong, determined mother, Lillian Kane, who instilled a strong sense of family which guided Jeanne through life.
A deep connection to her siblings (Ruth, Ted, Red, Jeff, and especially sisters Mary and Pat) meant the Burns' house on Cranbrooke Ave. in North Toronto was a frequent gathering spot for family celebrations.
The Kane family move from Stratford brought Jeanne to Toronto where she attended Northern Secondary and began a long with career at Bell Canada.
