Emerson PeterEMERSON, Peter Vincent  - (August 21, 1935 - August 11, 2018)

It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Vincent Emerson announces that on Saturday, August 11, 2018, Peter left this world peacefully with his family at his side.

He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and soulmate of 60 years, Deanna (nee Colangelo) and his children, Toni, Tracy, Karen and Peter.

Peter will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Alex, Geri Deanne, Cameron, Reid, Isabella, Blaise, Sofie Louise and Marshall, his two great-grandchildren and in-laws Anthony and Mary Kathryn.

Born in Picton, Ontario, Peter moved with his father to Toronto in his youth. While still establishing his career in the early 1950's Peter met and married the love of his life Deanna and quickly started a family while still putting himself through a business degree at the University of Toronto.

Primarily though, Peter was a family man with a knack for bringing family and friends together.

Peter will also be remembered for his tireless community work fueled by his kind and compassionate spirit. He was an avid volunteer serving his community through various good works. He will be sadly missed by the Knights of Columbus, Council 1388, where he proudly served for many years including a term as Grand Knight. He was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and for many years sponsored foster children around the world with the Chalice organization.

Throughout his life he had a great love of dogs and in later years was rarely seen without his loyal King Charles Spaniel Winston riding shotgun or nestled on his lap. Above all else, he considered his greatest accomplishment his marriage to his 'Italian Princess' Deanna. He cherished every moment of their life together and to his last days put her first.

Family will welcome friends at Jerrett Funeral Home at 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto on Wednesday, August 15th. Viewing times are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

A Funeral Service in memory of Peter will be held on Thursday, August 16th at Saint John's Catholic Church, 794 Kingston Road, Toronto. Interment will follow in the family plot. Everyone is then welcome to join us for a celebration of Peter's life that evening from 3 p.m. at the Henley Garden Reception Room at 1093 Kingston Road.

In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Peter to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, 2323 Yonge Street, Suite 800, Toronto, Ontario M4P 2C9 - Charitable Registration No. 10684-5100 RR0001.
