RAWLINS, Kenneth James   - Colonel Kenneth J. Rawlins, 102, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Kenneth Rawlins, the son of Salvation Army Officers from Scotland, was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in Canada in 1939.

After Corps appointments, he was transferred to The Salvation Army War Services work in 1940 and served for six years in Canada, England and Germany, attached to the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Upon return to Canada his appointments included six years as private secretary to the Territorial Commander, fourteen years as Music Secretary, followed by seven years as Divisional Commander in Alberta and then in Metro Toronto.

He then returned to THQ as Field Secretary and subsequently Chief Secretary for four years. Colonel Rawlins retired in 1981. After retirement he served on the Ontario Parole Board for several years before working for several more years at North York Temple of The Salvation Army.

He married Lieutenant Arlian Cameron in 1952 and they had four sons.

In addition to his work as a Salvation Army Officer, Colonel Rawlins is a noted Salvation Army musician and composer.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Arlian and his four sons and their wives, Ken and Lynne, Gord and Kimberley, Ian and Catherine and Brian and Michelle; fourteen grandchildren, Jocelyn, Matthew, David, Kristen, Cameron, Brendan, Julia, John, Robert, Madeline, Keira, Ainsley, Kent and Connor; and six great-grandchildren, Alexander, Lucas, Lynnden, Joshua, Brooks and Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Jean and his brother Arthur.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Northridge Community Church of The Salvation Army on Sunday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m. Northridge Community Church is located at 15338 Leslie Street, Aurora, Ontario.
