Eden EleanorEDEN, Eleanor Fern (nee PARRIS)  - Passed away peacefully in the palliative care unit of Scarborough General Hospital on August 18, 2018 during her 83rd year.

Eleanor was a fearless pioneer of her period, ascending to positions of authority prior to the onset of gender equality movements and helping pave the way for women in the modern workforce.

She joined Volvo Canada Ltd. in 1959 as distribution manager, tasked with introducing Volvo to the Canadian market.

In the mid 1970's she left the automotive industry and joined Honeywell, where she acted as Director of Communications Services.

She was the devoted and loving wife of 35 wonderful years to Jack Dawson, the light of his life.

Loving mother of Gary, succeeded by cherished grandsons Ryan (Karen) and Aidan, granddaughters Danielle and Maia and great-granddaughter Maeve. Dear sister of Nancy (Earl, deceased) and sister-in-law of Rick (Janet). Loving aunt of Karen (Jos), Brenda (deceased) and Larry (deceased).

She enjoyed being a key part of the Dawson family: Dale (Kathryn), Heather (Michel), Mandy (David) and Michael. She loved life, her family as well as her extended family and was loved by all who knew her.

Eleanor enjoyed the many years she lived in Markham and contributed her time and management skills as a member of the boards of the Evergreen Hospice and the Honeywell Employees Credit Union.

She was a sensational event planner, whose business functions and personal dinner parties will be forever remembered by those in attendance.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life that will take place in the Hospitality Room of the Windfield Terrace at 1210 Don Mills Road, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
