TUTECKY, John - Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the age of 96.
Beloved husband of 43 years to Helen (nee Popowich).
Loving father of John (the late Margaret) and William (Faith).
Proud grandfather of Christopher, Adam, Tina, Alexa and Wills. Dear brother-in-law of Nick (Colene) Popowich.
John will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Tina, his sister Kalyna, brothers-in-law Peter, Michael and William. John worked for Domtar fine papers for over 30 years. He often travelled for work, managing branches in St. Catharines, Don Valley and Beauhornois, Quebec.
Every summer, John made sure that students from Waterloo University would be hired in various parts of the industry. He was an avid reader, with a special interest in history. John was the past national President of the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Federation, the past President of The Probus Club of St. Catharines and was an active director of the Canadian Foundations for Ukrainian Studies.
He was a longtime parishioner of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, and a Knight-Officer of the Byzantine Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Family and friends will be received at the George Darte Funeral Home, St. Catharines, on Thursday, September 6th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Panachyda will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, September 7th at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 14 Rolls Ave., St. Catharines. Interment to follow. A reception will follow at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church parish hall.
