BRAMHILL, Robert Lawrence 'Bob' - In the evening of November 5, 2018, one month after receiving a difficult diagnosis, our beloved Bob left this world. In his last weeks, he faced his illness with a level of grace and acceptance that only one who has lived a full life could achieve.

His pride and joy was his family and in his last moments, he was surrounded by those most important to him.

Bob grew up in Montreal, Quebec, with his parents Percy Bramhill and Margaret “Rita” Lumsden, and his three siblings, Noreen, Tom and Jim. Those early years for Bob were formative and he recounted his family memories many times over the years.

Bob was an expert story teller and his stories imparted humour into any situation. Bob’s professional life in the marketing industry led him to Toronto where in a stroke of serendipity, he met the love of his life, Luz Maria “Mary” Escobar. She was here studying English and planning on returning home but life had different plans for them.

To Bob’s delight, Mary and Bob were married 6 months later. Bob built a wonderful life with Mary which they shared for 28 years until she passed away in 2009. You only had to spend a moment with them to see how much they loved each other. Through thick and thin, Bob dedicated his life to loving his wife and carried her memory with him to the moment of his passing.

In retirement, Bob lived in the community of Cardiff, Ontario and had the opportunity to once again live near his siblings Noreen and Tom. They bonded over their shared passion for craftsmanship and in particular, Bob’s love of building vintage boats, a past time which he enjoyed greatly.

Bob’s legacy was his children and grandchildren. He had a son Patrick (wife Claudine) and three daughters, Stella, Margaret and Karen (husband Tim) as well as three grandchildren, Mario, Henry and the most recent addition, Lucia, who together, were the light of his life.

Bob was a caring, generous and insightful man who always knew exactly what to say and when. He was a wonderful father and his children will carry his words of wisdom with them forever.

Bob will be remembered always by his friends and family. To many, including his grandson Mario, he was a hero. Bob however viewed himself more modestly, always reminding his friends and family that he was just a regular guy. Whichever way you look at it, one thing is clear- Bob was a wonderful human being. He lived his life as fully as possible, even in the face of great adversity, and loved his family fiercely.  Bob, you will be greatly missed but we celebrate you today and everyday.

A visitation will be held on Sunday November 11, 2018 at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, Toronto from 2:00-4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
