PO-CHU TSO, Pearl  - Passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital on November 3, 2018 following a brief illness.

Born in Shanghai on October 13, 1933, Pearl's family moved to Hong Kong during the war.

Pearl studied geography at Hong Kong University and piano with Professor Harry Ore. Each would have a lasting impact on her life.

Pearl became a world traveler in her seventies, ascending Machu Pichu in her eighties; and previously gave piano instruction at her home in Clarkson, during which time she obtained a second degree, in music, from the University of Western Ontario.

Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Wai Hung (Arthur) in 2003.

Arthur had become severely disabled in 1990 and Pearl devotedly took care of him at home for many years.

During this time, Pearl established a new life for herself, with many new friends and interests. This included, in particular, serving as a volunteer interpreter at Mount Sinai Hospital for seventeen years, where she helped hundreds of families, from delivering difficult news to helping mothers in childbirth. This was a reflection of Pearl's kind and generous spirit, "called to God's work and ... a guardian angel dedicating herself to caring and helping family and friends", as noted by her dear sister, Ruby.

Left to mourn are Pearl's daughters, Grace (Guy Lancaster) and Vivian (Norman Dionne). Pearl is very much missed by her loving grandchildren, David and Rachel, and by extended family in Hong Kong, the United States and Canada.

Many, many thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Michael's Hospital, for whom gifts of recognition to the palliative care unit would be preferred, in lieu of flowers.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Pearl's parish church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, in a private family gathering.
