HUGHES, Ann Clare  -  Passed away peacefully at Creek Way Village in Burlington surrounded by family on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the age of 96.

Ann was born on May 28, 1928 in Whiteinch, Glasgow, Scotland.

Predeceased by her parents Catherine (nee Tumilty) and Michael Hughes and her brothers Patrick, Michael, John, Thomas and Richard and her sisters Sarah (Sadie) and Alice.

Ann leaves behind her niece Theresa Murphy and nephew Richard Hughes along with numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland. Ann came to Canada in 1959 and immediately found employment at Simpson's custom upholstery and drapery department where she put her sewing talents to use.

She retired from Simpson's in 1990. Ann was a member of St. Peter's parish on Bathurst St. for 25 years and later a member of the parish of St. Maria Goretti parish when she moved to Scarborough in 1990 and a member of the Legion of Mary.

She was an avid reader of history, loved to visit museums and travel. Ann had a wonderful community of friends and neighbours.

The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Anderson and the entire staff at Creek Way Village for their exceptional care.

Visitation at Paul O'Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Ave. E., on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1-4 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti (Kennedy south of Eglinton). Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ann, you will be truly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save the Children Canada, 4141 Yonge St., Suite 3000, Toronto, Ontario M2P 2A8.
