Mascarenhas IonaMASCARENHAS, Iona - July 12, 1954 – January 10, 2019 - Iona passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, after an eight-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Karachi, Pakistan to the late Oscar Cabral and Rose Cabral (Lobo).

She is survived by her children Sharon, Michelle, Christopher and Adrian, as well as her former husband John.

She will be missed by her brother Arthur (Terry), many nieces and nephews, extended family, dear friends and colleagues.

Iona will be remembered for being a kind, sweet and selfless person, and a passionate elementary school teacher (40 years) with the last 27 years at St. Patricks Catholic School in Markham.

Her love for cooking, flowers and music will be fondly cherished. She will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 18th 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 9pm at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday January 19th 2019 at 10am at St Patrick’s Parish, 5633 Highway #7 East Markham followed by a burial at Markham.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Markham Stouffville Hospital (Cancer Clinic) and Cancer Society of Canada.
