SHERWOOD, James 'Herb'  - It is with great sadness that the family of Herb Sherwood announces his death on January 15, 2019 at age 94.

Herb is predeceased by Ann, his wife of 46 years; son, James Fielding; and companion, Patricia Ward.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Deborah Locke (Michael) and Kathy Grisé (John); daughter-in-law Amy Whitmore; grandchildren, Paul, Austin, Whitney, Carolyn, Jocelyn, John and Emily; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Charlotte, Skylar, Sienna and Jacob; and sister, Margaret Joyce.

Born in Toronto in 1924, Herb completed secondary school in Orillia before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

After the war he studied architecture at the University of Toronto, and spent most of his career at Imperial Oil Limited, from 1955 until 1986, when he retired as Chief Architect.

He is remembered as an avid traveller, artist, scuba diver, geographer, and bon vivant.

A true gentleman, he will be sadly missed. A celebration of Herb's life to follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the J. Fielding Sherwood Memorial Bursary, through the Dalhousie University Office of Advancement.
