FUERST, Darren Ronald, B.A., M.A., Ph.D,  -  July 25, 1960 - February 9, 2019

Passed away peacefully on February 9, 2019, at age 58, at his home in Commerce Township, Michigan, surrounded by his family.

Darren was the beloved husband of Lorena and cherished father of Elsa Marie.

He was also the dear son of Katherine and the late Clarence Fuerst and much loved brother of Michelle (David Watt) and Linda (Michael Kucan).

Born in Toronto, Darren received his doctorate in Neuropsychology in 1991, after which he practised at several hospitals in the Detroit area, including Detroit Medical Center.

An accomplished neuropsychologist, he taught for a number of years at Wayne State University School of Medicine as an Associate Professor in the Neurology Department, and later in his career developed a special interest in traumatic brain injury.

Darren's greatest joy was watching his daughter grow into a confident and accomplished young woman. He also derived much pleasure from working on the farm in Commerce Township and riding his motorcycles.

Katherine, Michelle and Linda will be forever grateful to Lorena for her outstanding and loving care of Darren through these last several months.

The family will celebrate Darren's life at a private ceremony at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a cancer foundation would be appreciated.
