COOPER, Gwendolyn 'Lois' - (1922 - 2019) - Lois’s small circle of friends and supporters are saddened to convey the news of her passing August 10, 2019 at Buchan Court Seniors' Health Centre, affiliated with the North York Hospital.
“Mrs. Cooper” was the epitome of an Executive Secretary at the old Abitibi Paper Co.
Those were the times when she demonstrated all the characteristics of the finest. Dictation, shorthand, correctness, discretion and unwavering loyalty. Always immaculately attired and always, of strong opinion. With Lois there was no grey. A beautiful character of another era.
She was predeceased by her adored and adoring, mother, Gladys Robinson and her beloved husband Jack Cooper.
She is survived by her vital supporters, Donna Lunn and Bernice Moir both former neighbours and exceptionally loyal friends. Ruth Pineda, a true professional care giver and companion. The exceptional Wendy (née Kearns, outstanding assistant to Oberlander) and her husband Denis McGowan, who provided extraordinary care, support and comfort to Lois in recent years, which became increasingly trying for all who cared for her. Last but by no means least, a special mention of Bill Boughner - Lois’ “favourite” young man!! Bill has always been a good, loyal friend to Lois and whilst she had great respect and admiration for Bill, those sentiments were completely reciprocal.
As true and loving friends of Lois, we wish to extend our most sincere thanks to the caregivers and committed staff at Buchan Court, for the ultimate care and attention provided to Lois.
A cremation is planned and a Celebration and burial will be held sometime in September. The information will be posted upon confirmation. Arrangements entrusted with Kane funeral home, 6150 Yonge St., Toronto.
