Hayles RoyHAYLES, Roy Bancroft - Roy Bancroft Hayles, 84, passed away on Monday, August 12th, 2019, peacefully with friends and family surrounding him.

Roy was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer in early 2018 and bore his illness with patience and good humour.

Roy was born in Jamaica, to parents Noel Hayles and Violet Bradford. After moving to the UK to study and work in the mid-50s, Roy met and married his wife Pauline in 1965, emigrating to Canada shortly after his marriage.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Dorothy Greenwood and both of his brothers, Fitzgerald 'Jack' Hayles and Warner Baxter 'Bunny' Hayles.  He is survived by his loving wife Pauline (Brown), children, Lisa Hayles, and Michael Hayles and grandchildren Cole, Bryce and Kennedy Hayles.

Roy will be dearly missed by his church family at Willowdale Seventh Day Adventist Church where he has served an elder and a board member. Roy worked as an electrician and founded and successfully operated his own business - Croft-Line Electric for over 30 years.

hough he never became completely accustomed to Canadian winters, he did become thoroughly Canadian in his embrace of hockey, particularly in his support for his hometown team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Roy's generosity and can-do nature were appreciated by all who came to know him and he was deeply admired as a man of integrity and principle who adored his family and always put their needs first.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday August 27th between 2-4 and 6-8 pm at  the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, in North York.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28th at 11 am at Willowdale Seventh Day Adventist Church, followed by burial at York Cemetery and Funeral Center. Repast will immediately follow back at the Willowdale Church Reception Hall.
