Noga Pelagia 2NOGA, Pelagia - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our dear mother at Kipling Acres Nursing Home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the age of 94.

Pelagia will now be reunited with her beloved husband Marek.

Loving mother of Zenko, John (Alanna), Mary and Marko (Heather). Adoring Baba of Kyle, Kirk, James, Jillian and Thomas.

Pelagia was born in the Ukraine and but was forced to leave Ukraine during World War II to work on a farm in Austria. After the war she made her way to England where she worked in a lamp manufacturing factory and developed friendships with many other displaced Ukrainians residing in England.

It was in England where she met and then married her husband on November 21, 1951 at the city of Bradford. Looking to improve their lives Pelagia, Marek and their recently born son Zenko crossed the Atlantic Ocean and arrived at Quebec City on July 3, 1953. The family eventually settled in Toronto and soon after John, Mary and Marko were born.

The family moved to Mississauga in 1964 where the houses were more suitable for the large family and for Pelagia to pursue her love of gardening. The large backyard soon had a large garden where Pelagia grew vegetables and numerous smaller gardens were created around the house which were were filled with flowers. One of her favorite pastimes was to sit in her backyard with the smell of her flowers around her and watch over the tastiest and biggest tomatoes ever.

She enjoyed reading, going on walks and keeping up with world events. She always stressed the value of education and made sure all her children went to college and university. Pelagia will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kipling Acres Nursing Home for their care and compassion during her stay.
