TEMPELS, Josef Bernhard Tempels - (December 15, 1932 - August 14, 2019)
Husband to Maria, father to Jutta, Gitta (Kevin), and Andreas (Shannon), Opa to Donald (Meaghan), Cassie, Krista, and Shauna, Großopa to Eleanor, and a friend to many.
Josef also maintained close relationships with family and friends in Germany.
Many surprise visits were planned from both sides, showing the respect and love he received and shared with all of them.
He will be forever remembered by his numerous siblings, nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.
Josef was a great mentor to many, and will always be remembered for his work ethic, principles, generosity, and his willingness to help others.
Josef met Maria Janssen while riding his bicycle to work. They fell in love, and married in 1955. The family emigrated to Canada in 1960, and eventually settled in the Greater Toronto area. Josef began his career as a diesel mechanic.
This was one of many skilled trades he acquired which lead him to establish the construction company Universal Erectors from which he retired in 1991.
Josef lived a fulfilled life spending time with family and friends. His pastimes included playing cards, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, dancing, and traveling in his bus (which he personally converted). He also enjoyed his cottage and hunting camp, which were built with the help of many of his friends and family.
Josef will be missed by all, having lost his battle with Lymphoma. May he rest peacefully. Celebration of Life at Roadhouse and Rose funeral home, Newmarket on Sunday, August 18th at 1 p.m., with a reception to continue through to 4pm.
