GIGLIO, Antonino 'Nino' 'Tony' - May 12, 1940 – August 17, 2019. It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Antonino Giglio at True Davidson Acres Long Term Care Home, on Saturday August 17, 2019 at the age of 79 after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Antonino is predeceased by his parents Leonardo and Maria Giglio, older sister Rosaria (Sara) Colletti and elder brother Melchiore Giglio.

Beloved husband of Anna Giglio (nee Sanci) for 50 years.

Dear father of Gabriella (Peter), Sylvia (Steve) and Rosario (Mary).

Loving Nonno to Natasha, Valerie, Julia, Krista, Alexa, Robby, Tommy, Tess and Daniel.

Dear brother to Vitina Settimo and Andrea Giglio. Uncle (zio) to many nieces and nephews.

Dear brother-in-law to Sal and Diane Sanci, Franco Colletti and Ann Giglio.

Antonino was an agricultural enthusiast who loved to work tirelessly in his garden. He always touted the many benefits of simple living and greatly enjoyed the fruits of his garden. He loved the mountains and the sea; animals big and small; and working hard in every aspect of life.

He will always be remembered for his competitiveness, love of music, and aptitude for card games like Scala 40 and checkers. He was a great fan of soccer, the Formula One grand prix, and thoroughbred horse racing.

Above all, he loved playing cards with his grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm; Monday, August 26, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 am.  Chapel Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 26, 2019 followed by
reception. Antonino’s cremated remains to be dispersed at a later time.

The family respectfully requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto or SickKids Foundation in lieu of flowers.
