PETCH, Douglas Carlyle - Born January 7, 1946 in Toronto, Doug passed away peacefully at Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville on Monday August 19, 2019.

Beloved husband of Sheila for 52 years. Loving father of Samantha and Jason (Margaret). Much loved Poppa of Bronwen Petch and Marley (Simon Gottschalk) and Sydney Barton-Petch (Shane Trumble).

Predeceased by parents Bruce and Helen and sister Beth. He will be missed by sisters Lynne (Ken Lytle) and Juli (Ted Goldhawk) and brother Bob (Lynne d. 2015).

Greatly missed by sisters-in-law Lynda (Dave Willard) and Gayle (Vic Fairthorne) and brother-in-law James Edgar (Sandrine Exibard) and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with his wishes Doug’s brain has been donated to the Movement Disorder Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital for research purposes into early-onset Parkinson’s Disease.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses, PSW’s and support staff at Fairvern for their loving care and support during Doug’s time there. Special thanks to Dr. R. Munhoz at Toronto Western Hospital and Drs Caroline Correia and Lindsay MacMillan in Huntsville.

A celebration of Doug’s life will take place September 8th at Fairvern Nursing Home, 14 Mill St., Huntsville from 2-4.

As an expression of sympathy donation can be made to Fairvern Nursing Home or Parkinson’s Canada.
