Macneil NeilMacNEIL, Neil Martin - (October 25, 1934December 2, 2019)

Neil Martin MacNeil of Aurora, Ontario passed away peacefully surrounded by family and prayers on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in his 85th year.

Neil was born to John "Chux" MacNeil and Ellen Murrin in Glace Bay, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Neil was married to his Bride, Roberta (Millar) for 56 years who he met at Manufacturers Life in Toronto.

Neil was a loving Father of Sandra Holdsworth, Stuart MacNeil and John MacNeil. He had a special place in his heart for his Princess, his granddaughter Alexandra who was great with her grandpa in his final days. He considered his son in law Al Holdsworth a friend and a great husband.

Dearly missed by sisters Catherine Jardine (Don) & Carol Bramwell (Bill Plume) & brothers Hugh & Steve. Predeceased by brother Edgar, Tom & sister Pauline and uncle to many nieces & nephews Will also be missed by Roberta's sister Cathy Heal (Doug) and two brothers the late Dalt (Marie) and the late Frank.

Neil was from a large family and he has many nieces & nephews from the MacNeil & Millar families.

Neil made his way to Ontario in 1951 with $20 in his pocket to make a good life for himself. Neil was a man who completely believed in community and service and was very active in many volunteer roles, including coaching hockey and baseball, he was a member of the Civitan Club of Aurora for years serving in various positions including President, he was actively involved with Our Lady of Grace Church as a reader, usher and giver of communion and was a member of the Knight of Columbus for many years and a 4th degree.

Neil spent most of his career in insurance and worked as the Manager at the Fan Man in Aurora for over 15 years until age 73 when he retired. He would then volunteer with the Restore. Neil was proud of his Scottish heritage and traced his roots back to the Isle of Barra and was a member of Clan MacNeil in Canada for over 30 years serving as Secretary.

Over the many years and many activities he enriched the many lives he touched, always kind and always with a smile, he will be missed by so many.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday December 7th at Our Lady of Grace Parish (Lynett Hall) in Aurora followed by a Reception and Celebration of Neil's life at the Aurora Community Centre Auditorium.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "New Building Fund" for Our Lady of Grace Church. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared online via Thompson funeral home, Aurora.
