Di Stefano BenitoDI STEFANO, Benito - (February 21, 1936 - January 15, 2020) -

We are all together.... thank you... for being here to send a wave to Benito.

I would like to share some thoughts with you. It’s not the end though because HIS… was really a life well lived with so many many memories. 60 years of marriage ... oh, so many days together ... maybe 22000 days... a long life spent together.

No doubt that throughout our journey there were highs and there were lows. But through our combined strengths we were always able to surpass the most difficult moments together.

With Benito being such an opened and exuberant person we shared many up times and active times. Many happy moments full of euphoria! We lived them Yes ...these moments ...and we enjoyed all of them.

Understanding our limitations but always appreciating this wonderful gift of life that we’ve been given. But never letting any prejudice or judgement alter our path.

Our family: Lorella, Ivana, Enrico, Stefania, Bianca, Alessandro and our little Sebastian ... Thank you ... for being there and sharing our life ... and leading with the sentiments (feelings) that came naturally without obligation.

You ARE our hearts

Benito and his sense of duty for the family ....

I remember at the beginning I was only 15 at the time .... a wise old aunt turned to Benito and said “You better take care of this girl... She’s only a child.“

And then he responded saying. “Don’t worry “Zi... I am and I will be there... In the good and the bad... the right and the wrong I will always be there."

After 60 years he is still here with us.

Thank you, Benito,

Born to the sign of Pisces of course he loved the water and the sea. The long walks along the shore with his music in his ears. .... Ah he loved his music .... so many dances together. We can all remember him as “il ballerino “

The sea .... avoiding the high tides, he would go for his swims in the refreshing healthy sea water .... returning to shore to meet the local fisherman and buy fresh fish caught daily and to enjoy a wonderful meal of “Zuppa di Pesce “

His bicycle .... going to the farmers market and bringing home freshly picked figs from the tree with the sap still attached .... and other fruits and vegetables in season ....... (real flavors) ....

and let’s not forget the morning cappuccinos and the freshly baked “cornetti” straight out of the oven .... what an aroma!

Flowers, always fresh cut flowers at home. It was his passion to show his love for me with the flowers.

Thank you Benito for your tenderness.

At the espresso bar sharing an aperitivo with friends ....a game of bocci on the beach .... The afternoon drives up the mountains in our little convertible “Alfetta “discovering so many small villages with breathtaking views .... enjoying a good wine, freshly baked bread, prosciutto and homemade cheeses ....

Thank you Benito for appreciating the small simple things and being able to see the quality of life rather than the quantity.

The days of Italy came to a pause for limited reasons. But Benito continues diligently walking daily at the Vaughan Mills Mall. Early morning excretions walking almost 6 kilometres a day and of course with his music always in his ears. Thank you Toni for creating a library of his favourite music throughout the years.

He would go to visit his sisters Silvana, Elisa and Elsa too .... who was for him always like a sister. .... His visits to his brother Bruno where they would enjoy some good coffee and conversation.

Even after Bruno left us Benito continued his visits to see Maria who was always welcoming and gracious.

Thanks to all of you.

He would pass by to see his endearing buddy David down the street. They helped each other out and would exchange and suggest ideas regarding their houses. Sharing an aperitivo together before he would head home for his daily plate of pasta ..... Thank you David for being like a son to him with your patience and care in all aspects.

This is Benito. A Person! A Personality. and in Italy, especially from the youth who would refer to him as “Che Figo” (such a cool guy). That’s why there is no need for tears, because with a full life that is well lived the memories are many ... so, so many .... they ARE and they will always be with us!

Thank you Benito for our yesterdays, todays and our tomorrows. An infinite hug to you from all of us

With much much love .......Family and Friends.
