BITAXIS, Theone - With great sadness, the family of Theone announces her passing on January 14, 2020 at the age of 91, following a sudden medical emergency.
Wife of the late George Bitaxis.
Sister to Bessie (Kosta) Psihopedas.
Sister-in-law to Dina Kapakos (Bill) and Vasiliki Bitaxis (Bill).
Predeceased by her brothers Tom Kapakos, George Kapakos, Bill Kapakos, and sisters Stavroula Parigoris and Georgia Dimakarakos.
Cherished aunt and Godmother to many.
Born in Paleohorion, Lakonias, Greece on September 6, 1928 to Panagiotis (Peter) and Christofili Kapakos, Theone married in 1948 and made her journey to Canada with her beloved husband in 1952 to start a new life. Together, they worked tirelessly through the years, leaving behind a legacy of benevolence and generosity.
Beloved matriarch and a pillar of the community, Theone was devout, devoted and giving, with a passion for life and for people. Much loved for her frankness and forthright nature, her wisdom, her tenacity, her keen mind, sharp wit and sense of humour, she cultivated special bonds and brought people together.
She remained active to the end, tending lovingly to her garden and eagerly sharing the proceeds with all those around her, as she did everything else. An inspiration and example to all, she will dearly be missed.
Visitation will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centres, Toronto on Friday, 17 Jan 2020 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The service will take place at St. George Greek Orthodox, 115 Bond St, Toronto on Saturday, 18 Jan 2020 at 11:00 AM.
