SCERRI, Joseph - It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph on January 17, 2020 at the age of 83 years.

Born in Malta on November 9, 1936 to proud parents the late Mr. Michael and Mrs. Pauline (nee: Bartolo) Scerri.

Joseph will forever be carried in the hearts of the love of his life Mary, who he married on September 28, 1958 and remained faithful to until the day of his passing, along with his children Mary-Jo Doukas (Mike), Mike (Kim) his four precious grandchildren Peter Joseph, Max, Jonas, Juliana, a large circle of extended family and all those who held Joseph close and considered him a friend.

Joseph will forever be remembered for his love of family, passionately watching his Toronto teams play sports but in the same breath getting upset with them for making an incorrect move or shot at the net, where he could be found once again passionately telling them, even if it meant yelling at the television screen, and one should never forget his love and passion for a good glass of red wine.

Family will be accepting visitors at Lynette Funeral Home, Toronto on Tuesday, January 21 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m.  A service of thanksgiving will be celebrated in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations to a charity of donor’s choice are greatly appreciated.

By personal request cremation will take place following the service with inurnment to follow at a later date.

We the family wish to take time to specifically thank the staff of the Humber River Hospital (Keele/Wilson Location) for the loving and passionate care that was showered upon Joseph while under your care.

Let perpetual light shine upon Joseph, and may the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
