Comeau GerryCOMEAU, Gerry - (April 10, 1935 - February 23, 2020)

In his 85th year, Gerald Felix Comeau passed away peacefully on the morning of February 23rd, 2020 at Maple Grove Care Community in Brampton.

Gerry was loving husband for 61 years of Lorraine (nee Valley), respected father to Phillip, Andrea, Michael, and Paul, as well as proud Papa (grandfather) to granddaughters Charlie and Martine.

Born in Baird (Port Arthur), Ontario, Gerry was the eldest of ten children of Felix and Eleanor (Perrier) Comeau. He had five brothers; Andre, Norman, Ernie, Rene and Felix, and four sisters; Blanche, Rosemarie (deceased), Kathleen and Denise.

Gerry lived a long, interesting and adventurous life as a hard-working provider for his family while staying close to his siblings and large extended family of more than 21 nieces, nephews, their spouses and offspring. Family occasions were always big and boisterous!

Gerry held several different professional designations for his work in construction and mechanics. He was one of the youngest hoisting engineers of his era; getting his certification before he was eighteen. He worked construction most of his life and transitioned to home renovation as he moved into semi-retirement.

Gerry and Lorraine were among the founding members of St John Fisher congregation where Gerry was a member of the Knights of Columbus. With a long history of involvement in the community Gerry was active in minor hockey and softball as a parent, coach and organizer. Until the age of 75, Gerry was an organizer and participant with the mall walkers at the Bramalea City Centre.

In his day, Gerry was quite the handyman who loved all kinds of gadgets and machinery, especially cars. He could tell a good story, loved to play cards and cribbage, enjoyed ballroom dancing with Lorraine and liked nothing more than having a coffee chat with folks – strangers were just friends he had not yet met.

Gerry will forever remain in our hearts leaving us with great stories to tell and many fond memories to share.

Visitation at Andrews funeral home, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton on February 26th from 6 - 8pm.

Funeral Mass at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 300 Balmoral Drive, Brampton on February 27th at 11:30 a.m.
