CHAPPELL, Janice Elaine (nee Evans) - Age 78 of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan departed this plane of existence on March 12, 2020.
She was born on January 23, 1942, to Edward and Evelyn Evans of Unity, Saskatchewan.
Janice attended the University of Saskatchewan Nursing School and received her Nursing Diploma in the Class of 1962.
She worked as a nurse at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for nearly 40 years and served as Head Nurse for several years.
She married Gerry Shewciw and had two children, Taunya and Evan.
She later married Wilfred Chappell, with whom she spent many happy years, before losing him in 2008.
She was an avid and enthusiastic member of the Sask Alone & Fairfield dance communities and volunteered regularly at the Sherbrooke Community Centre.
The strong friendships and connections she developed through both dance and volunteering were very dear to her heart. Her love for gardening, sewing, cooking and socializing was a constant throughout her life.
She is survived by her son Evan (Larissa) of Calgary and two granddaughters Freya and Aura, her daughter Taunya (Joel) of Olds and her brother Bill (Marg) of Calgary, and 6 nieces.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Janice's friends that visited her regularly throughout her illness, and all of the care staff at St. Paul's Hospital.
The thoughtful and loving care and attention that was given to her was a great source of joy and comfort.
The celebration of her life is tentatively scheduled to take place in May in Saskatoon, however, due to current circumstances, the exact date and location will be determined when gatherings are permitted again.
